Three categories – three awards: the Czech Euromedia Group can present a flawless result at this year's "Zlatá stuha" ("The Golden Ribbon") book awards. Works from the Czech club and publisher won awards in each category – illustration, literary quality, and translation – of the award for children's and youth books, which has been presented since 1993 by the Czech division of the renowned "International Board On Books For Children."
One award went to František Skála jr. for his illustration of the book "Froskeslottet" by Jostein Gaarder, author of "Sophie's World," another went to Jindriška Ptácková for the Czech book "Chyt‘ si lelka na udici" ("Fish for a Nightjar"), a collection of poems and short stories. The third Golden Ribbon was awarded in memoriam to the author and translator Jan Vladislav, who died this year. He was one of the first to sign the famous "Charta 77," a petition by various civil rights activists against the infringement of human rights by the communist regime in Czechoslovakia. Last year, Euromedia published two of his books, and the publication of one more work is planned for October of this year.
